Shashi Buluswar

Shashi Buluswar leads the San Francisco office of Dalberg Global Development Advisors, a firm that provides strategic advice to international institutions (like the UN), NGOs, foundations and corporations, on development issues such as education, health, economic development, energy/environment, institution-building, and entry into emerging markets.  His projects include helping the UN restructure global peacekeeping operations,  working with a large US-based foundation to launch a regional agricultural project in West Africa, and helping build NGOs dedicated to education in Pakistan and TB in India.  He recently made a documentary film on the India-Pakistan conflict and the process of “cricket diplomacy”; in the process of making the film, he traveled extensively through Pakistan focusing on the country’s development issues.  Earlier this year, Shashi wrote a policy brief for the Obama administration to help rethink America’s Pakistan policy.

Prior to joining Dalberg, Shashi was an Associate Partner at the consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he served financial services institutions and nonprofits on strategic and operational issues; before that, he was a Visiting Professor at Northwestern University.  Shashi holds an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a PhD in artificial intelligence from the University of Massachusetts
