Dr. Khurram Afridi |

| Dr. Khurram Afridi is the Project Director, the Werner-von-Siemens Chair for Power Electronics and Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the LUMS School of Science and Engineering (SSE). He is currently also a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, and the Chief Operating Officer of Techlogix. As Project Director of LUMS SSE, he helped raise $58 million for the school’s capital and endowment needs and guided SSE through it launch with a first batch of 160 students starting classes in October 2008. As Chief Operating Officer of Techlogix, he helped the company grow since inception in 1996 into a diversified technology services company with operations in US, UAE, Pakistan and China. Prior to joining Techlogix, he worked at Schlumberger, Philips Laboratories, Lutron, and JPL. At JPL he was part of the SURFSAT-1 design team – a NASA satellite that was launched into orbit in 1995. Khurram is a recipient of the BMW Scientific Award for 1999. He is a member of the Board of Management of the Engineering Development Board of Pakistan, a member of the Institutional Review Board of Shaukat Khanum Hospital and a member of the Board of Directors of Techlogix. Khurram received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Caltech. He was awarded Masters of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT. He is a contributing author of the Power Electronics Handbook and holds one US and international patent. |
